I own four houses and two of them are Old Victorians that need a lot of maintenance. I have worked with hundreds of contractors over the past thirty years, and none have done a more professional job than did Newkirk Services Inc. Jamie Newkirk started the process by giving me the lowest quote of the five quotes I received. His quote was not only the lowest, but the service he offered was more complete. When I told him he had the job - a foundation for a large garage with deep footers and a less than ideal location, he gave me a schedule I loved. Despite hurricane Ida filling the footers with water, Jamie met his schedule. I got to know his two lead workers, Javier and Alex Pontille (I hope I spelled it right). Javier has worked for Jamie for 17 years and Alex his cousin has worked for Jamie for 6 years. Both are true artists with concrete. I've had lots of concrete work done before but their attention to detail was something to watch - I did watch for hours as they went over every inch of the foundation to assure the 1/8 slope was correct, the top and bottom rebar was correctly placed, the wire mesh was correctly located, and the surface was perfect. Before they left, they resurfaced they ground and planted grass seed. I really can't say enough good things about Jamie and his team. I love my garage foundation. James and his team did an amazing job on our small backyard this summer. They put in flagstone and drainage and were extremely responsive to our needs. My wife was picky about the kind of grate she wanted to cover the drainage channel, and James went out of his way to accommodate her preference. All the work was done on time and on budget, and the team was friendly and courteous. They returned several times to fix some minor issues after the job was done and let us postpone the final payment until all work was completed. We had an almost 5ft retaining wall at my moms house collapse due to hydro pressure. The wall was over 50 years old and we ended getting several bids and although his wasn't the cheapest, Jamie was able to answer all of our questions and concerns in a manner that we felt very comfortable using him. Him and his crew did an AMAZING job cleaning out the mess and installing the new wall. The wall was installed within the timeframe we were told even though we had some rainy days. I am extremely pleased with Newkirk Services. They just finished a retaining wall on one side of my driveway. They put in pipes for water flow to avoid water damage issues I had before. The owner is very knowledgeable and the workers are hard working and courteous. I went with this company after reading Home Advisor reviews and seeing several projects that a friend had them do at her house. It was a great experience from beginning to end. The price was reasonable and the final result is great. This is a small company that aims to please its customers. I can highly recommend their work!
